Infusión de Limón Orgánico Fresco

Infusión de Limón Orgánico Fresco

(Citrus limonum)

Citrus limonum is a thorny, evergreen tree with irregular branches bearing glistening, oval leaves. Its flowers are pinky-white and strongly perfumed, which eventually become the lemon fruit.

The word lemon stems from the Arabic, ‘laymun’ and the Persian, ‘limun.’Under the right conditions, a lemon tree can blossom every month and produce thousands of fruits per year.

Lemon trees were planted in Florida when the Spanish settled there in the 1560s; two hundred years later, the Franciscan Fathers took seeds from Mexico to California, and today, most of the world’s commercial lemon production is concentrated in Italy, Sicily and California.

We make an infusion from fresh lemons by adding boiling water. This is strained and cooled, then added to our handmade products.

The juice is a source of citric acid and bursting with vitamin C (ascorbic acid). Pectin is isolated from the inner peel and has uses in food, cosmetics and medicines.

Lemon juice is a source of vitamin C, vitamins B1 and B2, and niacin, and is a powerful antioxidant. Applied topically, the juice is an exfoliant and can brighten skin.

Fresh organic lemon infusion works well to flatten the hair cuticles and can add a lustrous shine to the hair, while also cleaning and degreasing. We use organic lemon infusion in our Big shampoo to deeply cleanse the hair and in Goth Juice hair gel for maximum shine.

Our Enzymion moisturiser contains both fresh organic lemon infusion and fresh lemon juice to refresh and brighten the skin.

We use the infusion in our Lemony Flutter cuticle butter to help remove stains from the nails; it helps to improve the appearance of the hands and nails.

Charlotte Island body tint contains lemon infusion to brighten the skin.
